How to find and export your JobNimbus data for AI training

JobNimbus has no screen that shows how much data you have, so you save a Custom Report for contacts and another for jobs on the Reports tab, export each to CSV or Excel from the 3 dots menu, and count the rows, and the help pages do not say which roles can do this. Photos and documents download one contact or job at a time with Download All, and JobNimbus confirms there is no export of the whole account. Below, you'll find what JobNimbus data is and why AI labs and data vendors buy it, how to count your records, what to know before you apply, every export step, and what stays private.

Key takeaways

  • JobNimbus has no total-size screen, so you save a Custom Report for contacts and one for jobs on the Reports tab, export each, and add up the rows.
  • Reports export to CSV or Excel from the 3 dots menu to the right of the title, and only the columns visible in the saved report appear in the file.
  • Photos and documents come from Download All on each contact or job, and JobNimbus confirms there is no export of the whole account to external storage.
  • You don't need to export anything to apply: have your record count, years of history and number of users ready, and the data vendor anonymizes the records before any AI lab sees them.

01

What is JobNimbus data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?

The short answer

JobNimbus data is the record of a contractor's sales and production work in JobNimbus, the customer-management software that roofers and other contractors use to track contacts, estimates, jobs, tasks, photos and documents on visual boards. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) buy a copy because each job keeps its stage history, its tasks and its evidence together.

What a JobNimbus account records

JobNimbus organizes work on boards, which are visual lists of columns where each contact or job sits in the column for its current stage, such as a new lead, an estimate sent or a job in production. Each record moves across the board as the work advances, and the account remembers when it moved.

Tasks, estimates, invoices and the photos and documents collected along the way are attached to the contact or job they belong to.

Why stage history teaches an AI model something

An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. A board shows the order in which a contractor does things and how long each step takes, from the first call to the final payment. The photos and documents on a job add the evidence behind each step.

AI labs now also want to train AI agents, software that carries out a job step by step, and an agent learns a job from records of that job being done. The full mechanism is in AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data.

How JobNimbus fits into a dataset

JobNimbus is usually one of several apps in a company's dataset, next to email, accounting and customer records. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each app on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.

02

Where does JobNimbus show how much data you have?

The short answer

JobNimbus has no screen that shows the total size of your data. You build a Custom Report for contacts and another for jobs on the Reports tab, export each to CSV, and count the rows. JobNimbus's help pages do not say which roles can create and export reports.

How to count contacts and jobs

The steps below follow JobNimbus's guide, How do I back up or copy my account data, and its page on exporting Custom Reports.

  1. Open the Reports tab and create a new Custom Report for the Contact record type, with no filters.
  2. Save the report. JobNimbus shows the report overview.
  3. Click the 3 dots to the right of the report title and choose Export to CSV.
  4. Create a second Custom Report for the Job record type, export it the same way, and add the two row counts together.

Which roles and plans you need

JobNimbus's help center does not state which roles can create and export reports. If the Reports tab is missing, ask the account administrator or JobNimbus support, because the tab depends on what your account allows.

What the row count covers

An exported report contains only the records in the Custom Report you were viewing. A report with filters left on therefore under-counts the account, which is why the first report has none. Edits made to a report inside JobNimbus do not carry into a file that was already exported, so export again after changing a report.

03

What should you know about your JobNimbus data before you apply?

The short answer

Have three facts ready: how many records your account holds, how many years it covers and how many people have logins. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which apps hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. You don't need to run an export to find them.

The record count

The record count is contacts plus jobs, the sum of the two report exports. If you also use tasks or another record type, say which ones the figure covers.

The years of history

Add a created date column to your reports before you export, then read the oldest date in the file. Only the columns visible in a saved report reach the export, so this column has to be showing before you click Export.

The number of seats

A seat is one person with their own login. Count the users on your JobNimbus subscription, which includes office staff and the sales representatives and crew leads who sign in.

What you don't need to do first

You don't need to export anything to apply, and you don't need to clean or scrub records. The data vendor anonymizes the records before anyone else sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application, the intro call and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.

04

How do you export your full JobNimbus history?

The short answer

You save a Custom Report for each record type you use and export each one to CSV or Excel from the 3 dots menu, then download photos and documents with Download All on each contact or job. JobNimbus has no button that exports the whole account at once, and its support team confirms that nothing can be exported to external storage in one go.

Export the records

  1. Create and save a Custom Report for each record type you use, such as contacts, jobs and tasks, with every column you want showing.
  2. Open the saved report and click the 3 dots to the right of its title.
  3. Choose Export to CSV for a comma-separated file, or Export to Excel for a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  4. Save the file, and repeat for the next record type.

Only the columns visible in the saved view are exported, and only the records in that report. A field that is missing from the file was not showing in the report, so add the column in JobNimbus, save, and export again. JobNimbus does not print reports, but a downloaded file can be printed from a program on your computer.

Download photos and documents

  1. Open a contact or a job.
  2. Click Download All to save a zip file of every attachment on that record.
  3. Repeat for each record whose files you want.

The download works one record at a time, as the JobNimbus backup page says, and there is no way to send everything to a thumb drive or other storage in one step.

CUSTOM REPORT EXPORT The same account, exported Contacts reportCSV or Excel Jobs reportCSV or Excel Columns hidden in the viewNot included Photos and documentsNot included Show every column you need first. DOWNLOAD ALL ON A RECORD The same account, downloaded Photos on one recordIncluded Documents on one recordIncluded Contact and job fieldsNot included Every record at onceNot available One zip per contact or job.
The same JobNimbus account exported two ways. Custom Reports hold the fields of every record, Download All holds the files of one record, and a full copy needs both.

What the exports leave out and what to do about errors

The report files carry fields and nothing else. JobNimbus backs up your data on its own servers, but that backup is not something you can download. If an export shows an error reading "login is required", signing out of JobNimbus and back in clears it.

05

What stays private when JobNimbus data is licensed?

The short answer

The company decides which reports and attachments are exported, because each export is a choice someone makes. The data vendor replaces names and other personal details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything. The company keeps ownership of its JobNimbus data, and the license covers defined records for a defined use.

You choose what is in scope

JobNimbus has no all-at-once export, so the company picks the record types and the attachments it exports. A company can share its job reports and keep photos and documents back. The data vendor also deletes records too sensitive to clean safely instead of anonymizing them.

Names are replaced before a lab sees them

Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person or a place, such as a name, a phone number or an address, with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. The job still reads in order, so a lab can learn from it, but it no longer says who the customer is or where they live. The diagram below shows one job before and after.

IN THE JOBNIMBUS RECORD Job 2047, Production board Contact: Dana Brooks, 555-0142.Lead for a roof at 14 Elm Street. Moved to Production by Mike Alvarez.Task: order shingles, due Friday. Photos: 14. Invoice $9,800, paid. Real names, a phone and an address. WHAT AN AI LAB RECEIVES Job 2047, Production board Contact: Customer 203, Phone 31.Lead for a roof at Address 88. Moved to Production by Employee 22.Task: order shingles, due Friday. Photos: 14. Invoice $9,800, paid. Same job; the stages still read.
The same job in both panels. The contact, the phone number, the address and the sales rep are replaced with stand-ins, while the stages, the task and the price stay in order.

The method, including what is deleted outright and how you review samples, is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.

Ownership and payment

Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can we back up our whole JobNimbus account at once?

No. JobNimbus tells customers to export record data through Custom Reports and to download attachments from each contact or job with Download All. It also says there is no way to export everything to a thumb drive.

Why is a field missing from our JobNimbus export?

Exports include only the columns that are visible in the saved report. Add the column in JobNimbus, save the report, and export it again.

Which file formats does JobNimbus export?

Custom Reports export to CSV or to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Attachments download as a zip file for each record.

Why can't we find the Reports tab in JobNimbus?

JobNimbus's help center does not say which roles can create and export reports. Ask your JobNimbus account administrator, or JobNimbus support, to confirm what your login is allowed to do.

Can we print a report from JobNimbus?

No. JobNimbus does not print reports directly, but you can download the report and print it from a program on your computer.

Do we need to export JobNimbus before we apply?

No. The application takes about two minutes and shares no data. You only need your approximate record count, your years of history and your number of users for the intro call, and two report exports give you the first. The full export is needed later, when the records are transferred after you sign the license.

Does JobNimbus keep a backup of our data?

Yes, JobNimbus backs up customer data on its own servers, but that backup is not available for you to download. To hold a copy yourself, export your Custom Reports and the attachments.

What is JobNimbus data worth to AI labs and data vendors?

JobNimbus history is priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on its own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the records show each job from the first lead to the final payment. What your data is worth explains the factors.

Bottom line

Know what is in JobNimbus, then see what it is worth

You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.
