Key takeaways
- Gorgias shows no storage figure, so you count tickets: export an Inbox view with every ticket to CSV (up to 1 million tickets) and count the rows.
- The view export carries ticket details and links but no message text; an Analytics drill-down export with message content covers only the latest 30 days of the period, up to 100,000 tickets, public messages only.
- Full history with messages comes from a custom export that Gorgias support builds when you email your subdomain, the export type and a contact address; download links stay active for 14 days.
- You don't need to export anything to apply: have your ticket count, years of history and the number of people who answer tickets ready, and the data vendor anonymizes the records before any AI lab sees them.
01
What is Gorgias data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?
The short answer
Gorgias data is the history of customer support tickets an online store handles in Gorgias, a help desk built for e-commerce: each ticket records the shopper's question, usually about an order, and the store's reply. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) buy a copy because the tickets are a focused record of retail customer service, answered in each brand's own voice.
What a Gorgias account records
A help desk is software where customers send questions and a support team answers them. E-commerce means selling goods online, and Gorgias connects to a store's order system so that an agent can see the order a shopper is asking about. An agent is a member of the support team.
- Ticket
- One customer request, with every public reply and internal note on it, whether it came by email, chat, social message or phone.
- View
- A saved list of tickets in the Inbox, such as all open tickets or all tickets about returns.
- Tag and ticket field
- Labels and extra details that sort a ticket by topic, such as shipping or sizing.
- Macro
- A saved reply that an agent inserts to answer a common question quickly.
Why a Gorgias ticket teaches an AI model something
An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. Gorgias tickets center on orders: returns, shipping delays, sizing questions and refunds, so they are many examples of one kind of job.
AI labs now want to train AI agents, software that carries out a job step by step, and handling a store's customers is a natural first job. A ticket shows the request, the order it concerns and the way the brand chose to answer. The full mechanism is in AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data.
How Gorgias fits into a dataset
Gorgias is usually one of several apps in a company's dataset, next to its store, email and customer records. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each app on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.
02
Where does Gorgias show how much data you have?
The short answer
Gorgias has no storage figure, so the measure is a ticket count. The account owner, an admin or a lead exports a view that holds all tickets to a CSV, which can include up to 1 million tickets, and the number of rows in the file is the total. Each row is one ticket.
How to count tickets from a view
A CSV is a spreadsheet file that any spreadsheet program can open. The steps below follow the view export in Gorgias's guide to exporting tickets.
- Sign in as the account owner, an admin or a lead.
- Click the dropdown menu at the top left and choose Inbox, then pick a view that contains every ticket.
- Tick the box in the header row, then choose to select all the tickets in the view and not only the visible page.
- Click the three dots icon and choose Export tickets.
- Open the CSV from the email Gorgias sends and count its rows.
What limits the count
An export includes at most 1 million tickets, and a view with more is cut off at that limit. The wait grows with the size: Gorgias says 100,000 tickets can take up to an hour, and 1 million tickets up to 10 hours. A view that leaves out closed or spam tickets gives a smaller number, so choose one that holds them all.
| Task | Plan | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Export tickets from a view | All Helpdesk plans | Account owner, admin or lead |
| View Analytics drill-downs | All Helpdesk plans | Every role |
| Export from a drill-down | All Helpdesk plans | Account owner, admin or lead |
03
What should you know about your Gorgias data before you apply?
The short answer
Have three facts ready: how many tickets your account holds, how many years it covers and how many people answer tickets. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which apps hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. Applying shares no data, and you don't need to run an export first.
The ticket count
Report the number of rows in your all-tickets CSV, since each row is one ticket.
The years of history
Look for the oldest creation date in that same CSV. Its year is your years of history.
The number of seats
Your Gorgias plan may not list agent seats, so count the people who log in to answer tickets. Shoppers who write in are not seats.
What you don't need to do first
The CSV above is only for counting, so you don't need the full export to apply, and you don't need to clean or scrub tickets. The data vendor anonymizes the records before anyone else sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application, the intro call and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.
04
How do you export your full Gorgias history?
The short answer
Gorgias has no one-click export of the full history with messages. A view export gives ticket details for up to 1 million tickets, a drill-down export adds message text for only the latest 30 days, and the full history with messages comes from emailing Gorgias support for a custom export. Download links from any of them stay active for 14 days.
Export ticket details from a view
The steps in the count above also produce the metadata export. The CSV lists each ticket's link, ID, subject, tags, channel, priority, assignee, customer, timing and custom fields. It does not carry the message text.
Export message text from Analytics
The drill-down is a table behind a metric in a report that lists the tickets used to calculate it. Gorgias explains it in its drill-down guide.
- Click the top-left dropdown menu and choose Analytics.
- Open a report that has a drill-down, and click a metric value in it.
- Click Export at the top right of the drill-down and choose Export with message content.
- Wait for the email with the download link.
What the exports leave out
An export with message content covers only the most recent 30 days of the period you chose, up to 100,000 tickets, and holds public messages only, oldest first. Every export omits internal notes, ticket events, social media posts and Instagram media. The drill-down also offers a metadata-only export, which can reach back as far as 2.5 years.
Ask support for a custom export
A custom export is the way to get the full history with messages. Email Gorgias support with your Gorgias subdomain, the kind of export you want, the time frame and a contact address. Support can include ticket message text, help center articles, agents, customers, integrations, tags and macros.

What stays private when Gorgias data is licensed?
The short answer
The company chooses which stores and channels are in scope, and the data vendor replaces names and other personal details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything. The company keeps ownership of its Gorgias data, and the license covers defined records for a defined use.
You choose what is in scope
A company that runs several stores can license the tickets of one and keep the rest, and it can leave out a channel such as social messages. The data vendor also deletes records too sensitive to clean safely instead of anonymizing them.
Names are replaced before a lab sees them
Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person or a company, such as a name or an email address, with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. The ticket still reads in order, so a lab can learn from it, but it no longer says who the people are. The diagram below shows one ticket before and after.
The method, including what is deleted outright and how you review samples, is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.
Ownership and payment
Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Why does my Gorgias export have only 30 days of messages?
Gorgias caps any export that includes message text at the latest 30 days of the period you pick, and at 100,000 tickets. A custom export from Gorgias support is the route to the whole history with messages.
Are internal notes included in Gorgias exports?
No. Gorgias exports contain public messages only, and they also leave out ticket events, social media posts and Instagram media.
How long does a Gorgias export take?
Gorgias says 100,000 tickets can take up to an hour and 1 million tickets up to 10 hours. It emails a link when the file is ready, and the link stays active for 14 days.
Who can export tickets from Gorgias?
The account owner, admins and leads. Exporting is available on all Helpdesk plans, and every role can view the Analytics drill-downs without exporting them.
How far back can a Gorgias export go?
A metadata-only export from a drill-down can reach back up to 2.5 years, and a view export covers whatever the view holds, up to 1 million tickets. An export with message content is limited to the latest 30 days of the period.
Do we need to export Gorgias before we apply?
No. The application takes about two minutes and shares no data. You only need your approximate ticket count, your years of history and the number of people who answer tickets for the intro call. The full export is needed later, when the records are transferred after you sign the license.
What is Gorgias data worth to AI labs and data vendors?
Gorgias history is priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on its own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the tickets show each problem being solved. What your data is worth explains the factors.
Bottom line
Know what is in Gorgias, then see what it is worth
You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.
