Key takeaways
- GoHighLevel shows a Contacts count for each sub-account in the CSV from Sub-Accounts > Export Report at the agency level, which a sub-account login cannot run.
- Contacts export from Contacts > Smart Lists (Select All Contacts, then More > Export) and opportunities from the Opportunities page, one sub-account at a time.
- Contact exports leave out past emails and SMS logs, cut notes at 255 characters, and stay in Bulk Actions for 30 days for Agency and Location Admins.
- You don't need to export anything to apply: have your record count, years of history and user count ready, and the data vendor anonymizes the records before any AI lab sees them.
01
What is GoHighLevel data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?
The short answer
GoHighLevel data is the record of how a business turns inquiries into customers: the contacts, pipeline opportunities and customer messages stored in GoHighLevel, an all-in-one marketing and sales platform that is also called HighLevel. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) buy an anonymized copy because it ties each inquiry to the stages it passed through and to whether it became a booked job.
What a GoHighLevel account records
GoHighLevel is organized in two levels. A marketing agency or company owns the agency account, and each client business it serves has its own sub-account (also called a location), which holds that business's own contacts and pipelines.
Inside a sub-account, a contact is a person who has reached out, an opportunity is a possible sale that moves through pipeline stages, and conversations hold the emails and text messages exchanged with them. Forms, calendars and appointments tie into the same records, so one contact can trace a path from an ad click to a booked appointment.
Why lead-to-booking records teach an AI model something
An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. Public text shows advertisements, but it does not show what happens after someone responds to one. GoHighLevel records that part: where the contact came from, which pipeline stage the opportunity reached and whether it ended in a booking.
Local service businesses, such as roofers and dentists, use it to handle a steady flow of inquiries, so a single sub-account can hold thousands of short, similar journeys. AI labs now want to train AI agents, software that carries out a job step by step, and an agent learns a job from records of that job being done. A data vendor can turn anonymized journeys into worked examples that an agent studies like an answer key. The full mechanism is in AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data.
How GoHighLevel fits into a dataset
GoHighLevel is usually one of several apps in a company's dataset, next to email, calendar and billing records. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each app on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.
02
Where does GoHighLevel show how much data you have?
The short answer
The agency-level Export Report button on the Sub-Accounts page emails a CSV in which every sub-account has a Contacts figure. Any agency user who can open that page can run it. Sub-account logins cannot, so they count the rows of a contacts export instead.
How to read your contact count
The steps below produce a summary file for the whole agency. Each step names the place to click.
- From the agency dashboard, choose Sub-Accounts in the left navigation. Apply filters first if you want only some sub-accounts in the file.
- Click Export Report in the upper-right corner.
- Pick the teammates who should receive the file from the dropdown, then click the blue Export button.
- Open the email, click the download button, and look in the Contacts column for the sub-accounts you plan to include. The link expires after 7 days, and you can run the report again if it lapses.
GoHighLevel's sub-accounts export page lists what else the file holds for each sub-account: active users, appointments booked, and totals for emails, text messages and calls, split into inbound and outbound. Those message counts help describe how much customer conversation the account carries.
If you only have a sub-account login
The Sub-Accounts export is an agency feature. If you have a login for one sub-account only, ask an agency admin to run it, or open Contacts > Smart Lists, select all contacts and count the rows of the exported file.
Why the total is added up per sub-account
GoHighLevel keeps each sub-account separate, so a total for the company is the sum of its sub-accounts' contacts. For the opportunities, you count the rows of each sub-account's opportunities export, described below. The agency report holds contact counts only, so opportunity counts always come from the sub-accounts themselves.
03
What should you know about your GoHighLevel data before you apply?
The short answer
Have three facts ready for each sub-account you plan to include: its contacts plus opportunities, how many years it has been in use and how many users it has. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which apps hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. You don't need to run an export to find them.
The record count
Report GoHighLevel in records. For each sub-account, add its contacts (from the Contacts column or a contacts export) to its opportunities (from the opportunities export).
The years of history
Find the oldest created date in the contacts export. The years from that date to today are the history for that sub-account.
The number of seats
Seats are the people who work in the account. Count the users assigned to each sub-account.
What you don't need to do first
You don't need to export anything to apply, and you don't need to clean or scrub an export. The data vendor anonymizes the records before anyone else sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application, the intro call and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.
04
How do you export your full GoHighLevel history?
The short answer
Export contacts and opportunities one sub-account at a time: contacts through Contacts > Smart Lists with Select All Contacts and More > Export, opportunities through the three-dot menu on the Opportunities page. Contact files wait in Bulk Actions for 30 days, and only Agency Admins and Location Admins can download them. Past emails and text messages are not in these exports.
Who can download an export
GoHighLevel lets only Agency Admins and Location Admins download a finished contacts export, according to its contacts export guide. If you do not see the export option, check your user role or ask an admin.
Exporting contacts: the steps
- Open the sub-account and go to Contacts > Smart Lists.
- Tick the checkbox beside the filter fields and choose Select All Contacts.
- Choose Manage Fields and tick every column you want. The CSV contains only the columns visible in the table.
- Click More > Export, confirm in the export window, and let the job run in the background.
- Open Contacts > Bulk Actions, find the export row marked Complete, and click the download arrow to save the CSV.
Exporting opportunities: the steps
- In the same sub-account, open Opportunities from the left sidebar.
- Open the three-dot menu in the upper right and pick Export Opportunities.
- GoHighLevel processes the file and saves it to your browser's download folder, as its opportunities FAQ describes.
Repeat both exports in every sub-account you plan to include, because no export covers several sub-accounts at once. You can join the files in a spreadsheet afterwards.
Limits to know about
Finished contact exports stay in Bulk Actions for 30 days, and then the download option is disabled. GoHighLevel offers no scheduled export of contacts at this time. Only the latest note on a contact is included, and it is cut off after 255 characters.
What the exports leave out
Contact exports do not include automation history, meaning the past emails and SMS logs. We found no bulk export of conversation history in the three help pages cited here. The HighLevel API (the programmatic interface developers use to pull data) is the route for message history, and the agency report above supplies only message counts.
Opportunity history is short-lived inside the app: an opportunity's audit log reaches back 60 days. If the stage-by-stage history of opportunities matters to your dataset, raise it on the intro call.

05
What stays private when GoHighLevel data is licensed?
The short answer
The company decides which sub-accounts and which contact columns are in scope, and the data vendor replaces names and other personal details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything. The company keeps ownership of its GoHighLevel data, and the license covers defined records for a defined use.
You choose what is in scope
Every export in GoHighLevel is made one sub-account at a time, and the contacts export contains only the columns you make visible. Client lists from unrelated sub-accounts therefore never need to be included, and sensitive columns can stay out.
Names are replaced before a lab sees them
Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person, such as a name or a phone number, with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. The contact's path still reads in order, so a lab can learn from it, but it no longer says who the person is. The diagram below shows one contact, opportunity and note before and after.
The method, including what is deleted outright and how you review samples, is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.
Ownership and payment
Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I export conversation history from GoHighLevel?
No, not through the contacts export, which omits earlier emails and SMS logs. The help pages we checked describe no bulk conversation export, and the HighLevel API is the way to pull full message history. The agency Sub-Accounts report supplies message counts only.
Can I export all GoHighLevel sub-accounts at once?
No. Each sub-account is exported separately, for contacts and for opportunities alike. The agency Sub-Accounts report is only a summary list with contact counts, not the contact records.
How long do GoHighLevel contact export files last?
30 days. Completed contact exports stay in Contacts > Bulk Actions for 30 days, and then the download option is disabled. The agency report link is shorter: it expires after 7 days.
Who can download a GoHighLevel contacts export?
Only Agency Admins and Location Admins can download completed exports from Bulk Actions. A user without one of those roles may not even see the export option.
Why are my exported GoHighLevel columns missing?
Because the CSV contains only the columns currently visible in the Contacts table. Open Manage Fields, tick the columns you want, and run the export again.
Are GoHighLevel notes exported in full?
No. Only the latest note on a contact is included, and it is cut off at 255 characters. If full note history matters, raise it on the intro call.
Do we need to export GoHighLevel before we apply?
No. The application takes about two minutes and shares no data. You only need your approximate record count, your years of history and your number of users for the intro call, and the agency Sub-Accounts report gives the contact counts. The exports are needed later, when the records are transferred after you sign the license.
What is GoHighLevel data worth to AI labs and data vendors?
GoHighLevel records are priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on their own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the records show each job. What your data is worth explains the factors.
Bottom line
Know what is in GoHighLevel, then see what it is worth
You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.
