How to find and export your FieldEdge data for AI training

FieldEdge has no published screen that shows how much data you have, so you count rows in the Customers, Dispatching, Invoices and Quotes lists with every date filter set to cover all years, and FieldEdge Premier adds Enhanced Reporting for saved custom reports. The full history leaves FieldEdge as XLSX exports of those lists plus the equipment list under Reports > Customer Reports, and the invoice filters must be set to All or the file holds only the last six months. Below, you'll find what FieldEdge data is and why AI labs and data vendors buy it, how to count your records, what to know before you apply, every export step, and what stays private.

Key takeaways

  • FieldEdge has no total-size screen, so you export the Customers, Dispatching, Invoices and Quotes lists with every date filter covering all years and add up the rows.
  • Set every filter at the top of the Invoices tab to All before exporting, or the file holds only the previous six months of invoices.
  • Exports come as XLSX files, the equipment list comes from Reports > Customer Reports > Equipment List, and a long history that errors out can be run in one-year batches.
  • You don't need to export anything to apply: have your record count, years of history and login count ready, and the data vendor anonymizes the records before any AI lab sees them.

01

What is FieldEdge data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?

The short answer

FieldEdge data is the work history of a home-service company, kept in FieldEdge, the software that HVAC (heating and air conditioning), plumbing and electrical contractors use to dispatch technicians, quote jobs, invoice customers and track the equipment in customers' buildings. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) buy a copy because FieldEdge links each piece of equipment to the visits, quotes and sales that followed it.

What a FieldEdge account records

FieldEdge keeps a full history for every customer: each work order (the job ticket for one visit, covering what was requested, who went and what was done), each quote and each invoice. It also tracks the customer's equipment, such as a furnace or water heater, with its manufacturer, model and serial number. Technicians can attach photos to work orders to document equipment, maintenance and installation work, as FieldEdge describes.

Why equipment history teaches an AI model something

An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. A record that links one air conditioner to its repeat repair visits and to the replacement quote that followed shows what a failing unit looks like and what the customer was sold. Many years of such histories show which problems recur and how companies respond.

AI labs now also want to train AI agents, software that carries out a job step by step, and an agent learns a job from records of that job being done. An agent that books service calls could study how past work orders led to quotes and sales. The full mechanism is in AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data.

How FieldEdge fits into a dataset

FieldEdge is usually one of several apps in a company's dataset, next to its accounting and email. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each app on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.

02

Where does FieldEdge show how much data you have?

The short answer

FieldEdge does not publish a screen that shows the total size of your data. You count rows in the Customers, Dispatching, Invoices and Quotes lists with every date filter set to cover all years, and add them together. FieldEdge Premier adds Enhanced Reporting, which lets you add columns to a report and save it for reuse.

How to count your records

FieldEdge's own public pages give no counting steps. The tab names below come from ServiceTitan's guide to exporting FieldEdge data, written for companies moving to ServiceTitan, and it describes the lists as FieldEdge shows them.

  1. Sign in as an administrator. FieldEdge does not publish which user roles may export, so ask FieldEdge support if the Export button is missing.
  2. Open the Customers, Dispatching, Invoices and Quotes tabs one at a time, and set every date filter at the top to cover all years.
  3. Press Export on each tab and open the spreadsheet. The number of rows is that list's record count.
  4. For equipment, go to Reports > Customer Reports > Equipment List and press Export. If FieldEdge asks, choose the Excel or spreadsheet format.
  5. Add the customer, work order, invoice and quote rows together for your total.

What each list holds

Each export arrives as an XLSX spreadsheet, and each holds one kind of record.

What each FieldEdge list export holds
ListWhereTypical columns
CustomersCustomers tabNames and contact details.
Work ordersDispatching tabCustomer, work order number, status and technician.
InvoicesInvoices tabCustomer billed, total, technician and dates.
QuotesQuotes tabCustomer, quote status and amount.
EquipmentReports > Customer Reports > Equipment ListCustomer, manufacturer, model and serial number.

Why the invoice filter matters most

The invoices list defaults to a recent window, and ServiceTitan's guide warns that, unless every filter at the top is set to All, the export holds only the previous six months of invoices. A count taken at the default would therefore understate your history by years. Check the filters before you count anything.

03

What should you know about your FieldEdge data before you apply?

The short answer

Have three facts ready: how many records your FieldEdge account holds, how many years it covers and how many people have their own logins. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which apps hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. You don't need to run an export to find them.

The record count

The count is customers plus work orders, invoices and quotes, taken from the list rows with all dates selected. Say which record types you included, and mention equipment separately if you counted it.

The years of history

The years of history come from the oldest work order or invoice date in your lists. The date your company started on FieldEdge is usually close to it.

The number of seats

A seat is one person with their own FieldEdge login. Count the office staff and the technicians who have logins.

What you don't need to do first

You don't need to export anything to apply, and you don't need to clean or scrub records. The data vendor anonymizes the records before anyone else sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application, the intro call and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.

04

How do you export your full FieldEdge history?

The short answer

Export the customer, work order, invoice, quote and equipment lists to XLSX with every date filter set to cover all years, running long histories in one-year batches if FieldEdge returns an error. FieldEdge's public pages document no export formats, row limits or bulk photo download, so confirm the steps and ask how to download work order photos with FieldEdge support.

The five list exports

ServiceTitan's guide, updated in October 2026, names the same five lists that make up a company's core FieldEdge history. It is a third party's description, so check the menus against your own FieldEdge version.

  1. On the Customers tab, press Export.
  2. On the Dispatching tab, press Export to get the work orders.
  3. On the Invoices tab, first set every filter at the top to All, then press Export.
  4. On the Quotes tab, press Export.
  5. For equipment, open Reports > Customer Reports > Equipment List and press Export.

INVOICE FILTERS SET TO ALL The same invoice export, two filter settings Invoices exportedEvery year Older invoicesIncluded Row countFull total Set every filter at the top to All.
The same FieldEdge invoice export run with two filter settings. Left at their defaults, the filters return only the previous six months, and set to All they return the whole history.

What to do when an export errors out

A long history can make a list fail to export. ServiceTitan's guide suggests running the report in batches of one year, and if a single year still fails, asking FieldEdge for help. Combine the yearly files afterward.

What the exports leave out

Photos attached to work orders are the main gap, because FieldEdge's public pages describe no bulk download for them. Ask FieldEdge support how to get them. If you use FieldEdge Premier, Enhanced Reporting lets you customize and save reports by adding, removing and reordering columns, which helps when a standard list lacks a field you need.

05

What stays private when FieldEdge data is licensed?

The short answer

The company decides which records are in scope, and the data vendor replaces names and other identifying details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything. The company keeps ownership of its FieldEdge history, and the license covers defined records for a defined use.

You choose what is in scope

FieldEdge sends invoices and other transactions to QuickBooks, the accounting software, so the company can leave those accounting entries out and share only its work order and equipment history. Photos of customers' homes can also be left out. The data vendor deletes records too sensitive to clean safely instead of anonymizing them.

Names are replaced before a lab sees them

Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person, such as a name or an address, with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. A work order then still links the equipment, the visit and the quote, but no longer says whose house it was. The method is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.

Ownership and payment

Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does FieldEdge show total records anywhere?

Not on any public page we found. Count the rows in the Customers, Dispatching, Invoices and Quotes lists with every date filter set to cover all years, or ask FieldEdge support for totals.

What does FieldEdge Premier add for reporting?

Enhanced Reporting. It lets you customize existing reports and save them by adding and removing columns, editing views and reordering columns.

Are work order photos included in the list exports?

Nothing public says so. FieldEdge describes photos attached to work orders but documents no bulk download, so ask FieldEdge support how to get them.

Why does our invoice export show only six months?

Because the invoice filters were left at their defaults. Set every filter at the top of the Invoices tab to All before you press Export, and the file will cover all invoice data.

Should we export in yearly batches?

Yes, if an export fails. For a long history that errors out, run the report one year at a time, and ask FieldEdge for help if a single year still fails.

Do we need to export FieldEdge before we apply?

No. The application takes about two minutes and shares no data. You only need your record count, your years of history and your login count for the intro call. The export happens later, after you sign the license.

What is FieldEdge data worth to AI labs and data vendors?

FieldEdge history is priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on its own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the records show each job. What your data is worth explains the factors.

Bottom line

Know what is in FieldEdge, then see what it is worth

You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.

Not legal, tax or financial advice. Figures come from micro1's published pages and public reporting as of November 2026.
