How to find and export your Deel data for AI training

Deel shows no data-size figure, so you count records in Analytics > Reports, where People Summary lists your workers and People History lists every change to their data, and your role needs Analytics access. Each report exports with the Export button as CSV, PDF or Excel, the People dashboard downloads to CSV or PDF, and the SFTP integration sends payslips to your own server. Below, you'll find what Deel data is and why AI labs and data vendors are interested in it, how to count your records, what to know before you apply, every export route, and what stays private.

Key takeaways

  • Deel shows no size figure: count the rows of People Summary for workers ever on file and People History for changes, in Analytics > Reports, with filters widened to every worker type.
  • Your Deel role needs Analytics access for every entity and worker type, and the reports you see depend on your organization's Deel products.
  • Reports export with the Export button as CSV, PDF or Excel, and a few template reports cannot be customized, though their filters still work.
  • You don't need to export anything to apply: have your workers-ever count, years of history and active worker count ready, and HR and payroll records are usually kept out of scope or anonymized before any AI lab sees them.

01

What is Deel data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?

The short answer

Deel data is the record of how a company hires, pays and manages people around the world through Deel: contracts, role changes, time off, time worked and the reason each person left. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) are interested because the records show, across countries and worker types, how long each arrangement lasts and when a company hires contractors instead of employees. Payroll and HR records are sensitive, so what leaves the company is decided with the data vendor and a lawyer.

What Deel records

Deel is a platform that companies use to hire and pay workers in other countries. It handles four kinds of worker. Direct employees are on the company's own payroll, and EOR (employer of record) employees are legally employed by Deel on the company's behalf in a country where the company has no entity of its own. PEO (professional employer organization) employees are co-employed through a service that shares HR duties with the company, and contractors are self-employed people paid per contract.

For each worker Deel keeps a contract with its start date and pay terms, a history of changes to the worker's data, time off requests, time worked and, at the end, the termination details. Administrators read it through reports, which are tables that list one worker or one contract per row.

Why distributed-team history teaches an AI model something

An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. Deel's history is a dated series of decisions about people: a contractor is signed, converted to an employee, given a new title and later offboarded. Across many workers it shows how long each kind of arrangement lasts and when a company switches from one to another.

Deel's People dashboard builds headcount, new joiners, leavers and average tenure from those same records, so growth and turnover can be traced back to the events behind them. Our guide AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data explains how labs use records of work.

How Deel fits into a dataset, and why it needs extra care

A Deel export is usually one of several sources in a company's dataset, next to email, documents and tickets. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each source on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.

Workers' contracts, pay and immigration status are personal data, and the rules differ in every country a company hires in. Our guide on whether it is legal to sell company data notes that HR files are usually excluded from these deals outright. This page helps you size the records so you and the data vendor can decide which of them, if any, are in scope.

02

Where does Deel show how much data you have?

The short answer

Deel shows no data-size figure. You count records in Analytics > Reports: People Summary lists your workers, and People History lists every change made to a worker's data since they joined Deel. Your Deel role must include Analytics access for every entity and worker type.

How to count your records

An administrator with Analytics access does these steps in the Deel web app. They follow Deel's help articles on which reports exist and on the Analytics dashboards.

  1. Sign in with a Deel role that can open Analytics for all of your entities (each legal company you run through Deel) and all worker types. When Analytics does not appear in the left sidebar, your Deel administrator, such as the Org admin, can add the permission.
  2. Expand Analytics in the left sidebar and choose Reports.
  3. Open People Summary, loosen the filters until every worker type appears, select Run and write down the row count. That is the number of workers ever on file.
  4. Open People History over the full date range and note its row count. If you use them, do the same for Time Tracking Summary and Time Off Summary.

Which reports you can see depends on your products

The reports and dashboards you see vary with the Deel products your organization uses and with your permissions. An Org admin can grant Analytics access. Deel lists dozens of report types, and the ones relevant to sizing are below.

Deel reports used to count records
ReportWhat each row isWorker types
People SummaryOne worker, with worker ID, job and personal informationDirect employees, EOR, PEO, contractors
People HistoryOne change made to a worker's data since joining Deel, from role changes to termination reasonsDirect employees, EOR, PEO, contractors
ContractsOne contract, with type, start and end dates, rates and entityDirect employees, EOR, PEO, contractors
Time Tracking SummaryHours worked, with dates and start and end timesDirect employees, EOR, PEO, contractors
Time Off SummaryEach worker's allowance, days accrued and days usedDirect employees, EOR, PEO, contractors

Why the counts can differ between reports

Some reports cover only one worker type, so a report's scope decides what it counts. Check each report's worker types before you add its number to your notes, and widen the filters so that no entity or worker type is left out.

03

What should you know about your Deel data before you apply?

The short answer

Have three facts ready: the number of workers ever on file, the years since your first Deel contract, and how many workers are active today. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which sources hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. You don't need to export anything to find them.

The number of records

For Deel the unit is records, and the number to use is the workers ever on file from People Summary. Deel covers direct employees, EOR employees, PEO employees and contractors, so write the split by worker type in your notes. Add the People History change count or the time entries there too, because they show how much activity the records describe.

The years of history

The years of history start at your earliest contract start date in Deel. The Contracts report lists start dates, so sorting it by start date gives the first one.

The number of seats

For Deel, the seat count is the active workers on Deel today. Workers who have been offboarded count toward the records but not toward seats.

What you don't need to do first

Applying shares no data with anyone, and you don't need to export or clean anything first. The data vendor anonymizes records before any AI lab sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.

04

How do you export your full Deel history?

The short answer

In Analytics > Reports, open a report and choose Export, which downloads it as a CSV, PDF or Excel file, or use the three-dot menu on the report's row. The People dashboard's detailed views download to CSV or PDF. Deel's SFTP integration, which an admin sets up in the App Store, sends files to your own server, but Deel lists payslips as the only data it exports that way.

Export a report

  1. In the left sidebar, open Analytics > Reports and find the report on the Reports page, using the categories, the search box and the filters.
  2. Select the report's name to open its editor. Use Filters to set the date range and worker types, and use Available fields, Added fields and Customize Table to choose the columns. Select Run to refresh the results, and Save if you want to keep the layout.
  3. Choose Export and pick CSV, PDF or Excel (.xlsx). The three-dot menu on the report's row also holds Export, along with Make a copy and Mark as favorites; Deel advises opening the report's name, not the three-dot menu, to customize a template report.

Most reports can be tailored with fields and filters first, but a few template reports cannot be customized, although their filters still work. What you see depends on your permissions and on your company's Deel products, as Deel's article on report types explains.

Export from the People dashboard

  1. Expand Analytics in the left sidebar and select Dashboards, then open the People dashboard.
  2. Under a card, such as Headcount or Leavers, select View Details.
  3. In the detailed report, add filters if you wish and download the current view to CSV. Deel's dashboards article also lists PDF as a download format.

Send files to your own server with SFTP

SFTP is a standard way to transfer files securely between two servers. Deel's SFTP integration is set up by an admin, one entity at a time, and it needs an SFTP server that you run and your server must allow connections from Deel's IP addresses, which are listed in Deel's SFTP article.

  1. In the left sidebar, expand Apps & Automation, select App Store, search for SFTP Integration and open it.
  2. Under Connector configuration, select Create SFTP.
  3. At the Integration type step, set Connection type to Export data from Deel to your tool, choose an integration type, name the connection and select the entity, then continue.
  4. Enter your SFTP server's details and choose password or SSH private key authentication, then continue.
  5. Add the people who should receive notifications and select Connect. Repeat for each entity.

Deel's list of supported data names payslips as the only data an outbound connection exports, although the article's introduction speaks of HRIS (human resources information system) data in general. We therefore treat SFTP as a route for payslip files only, and use reports for worker records.

What each route covers

Deel export routes
RouteFormatsWhat it covers
Report, ExportCSV, PDF, ExcelThe fields and filters in that report
People dashboard, View DetailsCSV, PDFThe detailed view behind one card
SFTP Integration, outboundFiles sent to your SFTP serverPayslips, per entity, set up by an admin

What an export leaves out, and how long it takes

An export holds only the columns in the report, limited to the workers and entities your permissions allow, so a restricted account produces a partial copy. Deel publishes no timing for report downloads, and a large all-worker report simply takes longer to run before it can be exported.

05

What stays private when Deel data is licensed?

The short answer

The company decides which reports, columns and entities are in scope, and the data vendor replaces names and other identifying details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything. Passports, tax IDs and the bank details Deel holds for compliance checks are never needed, and records too sensitive to clean safely are deleted. The company keeps ownership of its data, and the license covers defined records for a defined use.

You choose what is in scope

Because a report holds only the columns you add, the company controls what leaves Deel. A report of contract start dates, role changes, worker type and time off can be shared without salaries, personal emails, nationalities or immigration documents. Deel's Total Payroll Summary report can include names, personal emails, nationality and annual gross salary when those columns are ticked, so leave payroll columns out unless the vendor and your lawyer ask for them.

Names are replaced before a lab sees them

Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. Names, email addresses and worker IDs are replaced, and details that identify someone only in combination, such as an exact birth date or a rare job title in a small country, are made less precise. The order and timing of events stay, so a record still shows how a worker's arrangement changed without saying whose it was.

The vendor keeps a private mapping of stand-ins to real people while it works, so strictly the records are pseudonymized, and a buyer cannot trace them back. The diagram shows one worker's history before and after.

IN DEEL one worker's history worker: Luis Ortega email: luis@acme.com 2022-05-02 contractor signed 2024-02-01 converted to EOR 2025-07-31 contract ended reason: resignation A real name and a work email. WHAT AN AI LAB RECEIVES the same worker's history worker: Worker 88 email: worker88@example.test 2022-05-02 contractor signed 2024-02-01 converted to EOR 2025-07-31 contract ended reason: resignation Same history; identity removed.
The same worker in both panels. The name and email become stand-ins, while the sequence of contract changes and the end of the contract stay in order.

The method, including what is deleted outright and how you review samples, is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.

Ownership, the law and payment

Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. Workers have privacy rights in their own details, and a company with workers in several countries is subject to several sets of rules, so a lawyer reviews what may be included before anything moves, as the guide on whether it is legal to sell company data explains. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do Deel reports cover contractors and EOR employees together?

Many of them do. People Summary and People History include direct employees, EOR, PEO and contractors, but other reports are limited to a single worker type, so read each report's scope before you add up counts.

Why can't I see Analytics in Deel?

Analytics is hidden until your role is given permission to view it, and which reports appear then depends on the Deel products your company uses. Your Deel administrator, such as the Org admin, can grant it.

Can I get a scheduled export instead of downloading reports?

Only for payslips. An admin can install Deel's SFTP Integration so that files arrive on your own SFTP server, one entity at a time, yet Deel's supported-data list names payslips alone. Worker records still come from reports.

Which formats can I download Deel reports in?

CSV, PDF or Excel (.xlsx) through the Export button on a report. The People dashboard's detailed views download to CSV or PDF.

Do I have to export Deel before I apply?

No. The application shares no data. You only need your workers-ever count, your years of history and your active worker count, and People Summary and Contracts give you all three.

Are salaries, passports and bank details included when Deel data is licensed?

Only if the company puts them in scope, and HR and payroll records are usually excluded from these deals outright. Identity documents, tax IDs and compliance bank details are never needed, and the data vendor anonymizes whatever is shared.

What is Deel data worth to AI labs and data vendors?

A Deel export is priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on its own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the records show each job. What your data is worth explains the factors.

Bottom line

Know what is in Deel, then see what it is worth

You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.

Not legal, tax or financial advice. Figures come from micro1's published pages and public reporting as of November 2026.
