Key takeaways
- Canva shows no storage total for a team, so report the size of the bulk download of uploads and designs in GB.
- Only the team owner can request it, on desktop, under Settings > Account & security; it takes 24 to 72 hours and the link lasts 14 days.
- Uploads come back as the original images, videos and fonts, and designs in formats such as PDF, JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4 and GIF.
- You don't need to export anything to apply: have your size, years of history and paid member count ready.
01
What is Canva data, and why do AI labs and data vendors buy it?
The short answer
Canva data is the set of designs a team makes in Canva, plus the images, videos and fonts it uploads to use in them. AI labs (companies that build and train AI models) and data vendors (companies that anonymize business records and package them for those labs) buy a copy because a team's designs show how marketing, sales and operations staff produce flyers, decks and social posts on a deadline.
What a Canva team holds
Canva is an online design tool where people build flyers, presentations, social media posts and videos from templates. A team is a group of people who work in Canva under one company account and share designs, folders and brand assets. Each team has an owner, the person with full control of it.
Along with the designs, a team keeps everything it uploads: logos, photos, videos and fonts.
Why a team's designs teach an AI model something
An AI model learns by studying a very large number of examples and finding the patterns in them, and those examples are called training data. A pile of Canva designs shows how a company adapts a template for each use, reuses its brand assets and makes many versions of the same flyer or deck.
The uploads add information too, because they show which raw images and videos the company relies on. The full mechanism is in AI training data: why AI companies want your company's data.
How Canva fits into a dataset
Canva is usually one system among several in a company's dataset, next to email, chat and project records. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to. The price covers the whole dataset, not each app on its own, and what your data is worth explains what moves it.
02
Where does Canva show how much data you have?
The short answer
Canva's help center describes no storage total for a team. The best measure is the size of the bulk download of your uploads and designs, which only the team owner can request, on desktop. Report the size of that ZIP file in gigabytes (GB).
How to measure your total
Canva describes the request in its guide to downloading your personal data, uploads and designs in bulk. The steps below start it and read the size of the result.
- Sign in to Canva on a desktop computer as the team owner. Only the owner can download the uploads and designs made in the team.
- Select your account profile on the homepage to open the menu, then choose Settings > Account & security.
- For a team, go to Download your Canva team uploads and designs and click Request to download. Canva packages the uploaded images, videos and fonts together with the designs.
- Wait for Canva's email saying the files are ready. Preparing them takes 24 to 72 hours depending on the amount of content.
- Go back to the Account settings page, click Download and note the file sizes in GB. The link stays available for 14 days.
Who can do it and on what plan
Only the team owner can bulk download team uploads and designs, and Canva offers the feature on desktop only, not on mobile. Canva states that some download options, bulk downloading among them, are limited to Pro, Teams, Business, Education and Nonprofit plans, as its download guide lists.
After you request the download you cannot delete your Canva account, so wait for the download to finish if you plan to close it.
Why the ZIP size is only an estimate
The ZIP size measures what Canva exports, not a storage figure that Canva reports. Large videos and uploaded fonts count toward it, and Canva splits a big export into several files to make downloading easier. Add the sizes of all the files together.
03
What should you know about your Canva data before you apply?
The short answer
Have three facts ready: the size of the bulk download in gigabytes, how many years your company has used Canva and how many paid members your team has. They go into the data manifest, the written summary of which apps hold your records, how many years each covers and roughly how much. You don't need to run an export, and applying through micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, shares no data.
The size
Give the size of the bulk download ZIP in GB. If you haven't requested it yet, a rough guess is fine for the first conversation, and you can run the request while you wait to hear back.
The years of history
The history starts on the date the team was created or first paid for Canva.
The number of seats
Seats are the paid members of the team, so count the people on its members list.
What you don't need to do first
You don't need to export anything to apply, and you don't need to clean or scrub the designs. The data vendor anonymizes the records before anyone else sees them, and nothing moves until a lawyer-reviewed license is signed. The application, the intro call and each later step are laid out in how to sell your company's data.
04
How do you export your full Canva history?
The short answer
The team owner requests the bulk download of uploads and designs from Settings > Account & security on desktop, then downloads the files from the Account settings page within 14 days. Preparing the export takes 24 to 72 hours. If it takes longer, contact Canva through its Help Assistant.
The full request: step by step
This is the same request used to measure the size, so you can use one export for both. The team owner does every step on a desktop computer.
- Open Settings > Account & security from your profile menu.
- Under Download your Canva team uploads and designs, click Request to download.
- Watch your inbox for Canva's email. If it is later than 72 hours, chat with Canva's Help Assistant.
- Return to Account settings and click Download. Canva lists several separate files, split by how many uploads and designs the account has, so click each one to save it. The link works for 14 days.
What comes in the files
Uploaded images, videos and fonts come back as the original files. Designs come back in the formats Canva supports for bulk downloads, which are PDF, JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4 and GIF, with each design or page exported separately depending on the file type.
What each route includes
The diagram compares the full account request with the smaller multi-design download that is available from the design pages.
Limits to plan around
The multi-design download exports up to 200 designs at once, or 25 when the file type is MP4 or GIF. It takes up to five top-level folders at a time, leaves out subfolders, and gives only one file type per download, as Canva documents in its download guide. The result is a single ZIP file with all designs and folders flattened.
If Canva emails that it could not copy everything, download the file and check what is missing. Look for missing designs on your Projects page and download them from the editor one by one. If a design cannot be found, contact Canva through Help Assistant within 14 days of receiving the link.
What a Canva export leaves out
Canva warns that the export can occasionally miss designs, which is why it emails you when it could not copy everything. A team member who is not the owner cannot run the team export at all, so make sure the owner is available before you plan the transfer.

05
What stays private when Canva data is licensed?
The short answer
The company chooses which designs and uploads are exported, so confidential client work and personal files can stay out of scope. The data vendor replaces names and other personal details with consistent stand-ins before an AI lab sees anything, and the company keeps ownership of its designs.
You choose what is in scope
The multi-design download works folder by folder, so the company can decide what leaves Canva. Leaving out a client's confidential campaign is a matter of not selecting it. The data vendor also deletes records too sensitive to clean safely instead of anonymizing them.
Names are replaced before a lab sees them
Anonymization means replacing every detail that identifies a person or a client, such as a name or an email address, with a stand-in that is the same every time it appears. The designs still read in order and the version trail still makes sense, but nobody can tell who the people are. The diagram shows one flyer before and after.
The method, including what is deleted outright and how you review samples, is in how company data is anonymized for AI training.
Ownership and payment
Licensing gives the buyer limited rights to a copy, while the company keeps ownership of the originals. The terms that matter, such as exclusivity, permitted use and deletion, are covered in data licensing. micro1 pays in full within 30 days of accepting the data, usually as a single payment.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can any Canva team member download everything the team made?
Not every member can. The team owner is the only person who can download what the team made, and that has to be done on a desktop computer.
How long does a Canva bulk download take?
Canva says preparing it takes 24 to 72 hours, depending on how much content there is. The download link then lasts 14 days.
Can we bulk download Canva designs on a phone?
No, a phone or tablet will not work, because Canva offers the all-uploads-and-designs download on desktop only.
Can we delete our Canva account while the export runs?
No. Once you request the download, Canva does not let you delete the account, so wait until the download finishes.
Which file types does Canva's multi-design bulk download support?
PDF, JPG, PNG, WebP, MP4 and GIF, with one file type per download. It handles up to 200 designs at once, or 25 for MP4 and GIF.
Do we need to export Canva before we apply?
No. The application takes about two minutes and shares no data. You only need your approximate size in GB, your years of history and your number of paid members for the intro call. The export is needed later, when the records are transferred after you sign the license.
What is Canva data worth to AI labs and data vendors?
Canva designs are priced as part of a whole dataset rather than on their own. Companies are paid $100K to $2M or more per dataset, according to micro1, and the price depends on the years of history and how completely the records show the work. What your data is worth explains the factors.
Bottom line
Know what is in Canva, then see what it is worth
You don't need to export anything to apply. Apply in two minutes, describe your records on the intro call, and micro1, the data vendor we typically refer companies to, prices the whole dataset and sends an offer 1–2 days later.
